With the Dallas Mavericks working to chip away at Minnesota’s lead in the third quarter, Jaden Hardy decided to energize the team and the crowd. Spotting an opportunity, Hardy sized up the Timberwolves’ Kyle Anderson, saw little defensive help, and attacked.
After a few dribbles, Hardy beat Anderson before making a strong double clutch dunk. He then lowered the score to 73-71. This caused a loud noise in American Airlines Center.
“I was trying to get the crowd involved and get everybody hyped,” Jaden Hardy said after the Mavericks’ 105-100 loss in Game 4, which allowed the Timberwolves to avoid a sweep. “I saw just one man in front of me and nobody low, so I decided: meet me at the rim.”
Although the Mavericks lost, Hardy’s game was a standout. His score stood at 13 on 5-8 shots, within just 12 minutes. The team was +2 in his time on court.
“It felt great to see some shots go in,” Hardy said. “I’m just trying to bring energy and add another element to the team for this championship run.”

In the time Hardy has played the playoffs since he joined it in Oklahoma City, his offensive skills have been of great help to Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić.
“Great,” Dončić said of Hardy’s play.“ I just told him, keep going. When you’re open, shoot the ball. When they close, drive it. Just hoop.”
Hardy is just warming up! He asserts himself in attack, with per-minute scoring ranking among the best in the league, and has started to learn how to become active during play-offs.
“Being out there, I feel confident. Luka and Kai trust me with the ball,” Hardy said. “Whenever they tell me to go, I go. I’m not afraid of anybody.”
Coach Jason Kidd also praised Hardy’s performance.
“You look at his ability to score, he’s not scared,” Kidd said. “We’re going to need that from this point on. The trust from the coaches and his teammates is there. He’s playing at a high level. We’ll need his scoring and playmaking on the road.”
In his second NBA season, Hardy hit three of his four three-point attempts, showing growth.
“You can see he’s getting more comfortable,” Kidd said. “With D-Live (Dereck Lively II) out, he gave us a lift, energy-wise. We’ll need his energy, scoring, and defense moving forward.”
In their playoff run, especially in their recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in game 4, Jaden Hardy has become progressively important to the Dallas Mavericks with his energetic displays and scoring skills.
