King Oyster Mushrooms whose scientific name is Pleurotus eryngii is well famous in several continents, specifically Asia due to positive culinary attributes. They are used as an alternative to meat in multiple meals because they are juicy and have an earthy taste that suits most recipes.
King Oyster Mushroom are rich in protein, vitamins and fibers and also provide a unique experience. King Oyster Mushrooms’ stems and caps are strong and they make a good choice during cooking because they absorb flavors but still retain a pleasant bite.
Ingredients required for King Oyster Mushrooms:
- 4 King Oyster Mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water or vegetable broth
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Chinese-Style King Oyster Mushrooms Recipe

First Prepare the Mushrooms and Pan:
Use a moistened cloth depurative to clean the king oyster mushrooms free of any dirt or foreign matters. Then make slice them into chunks approximately half an inch thick. Then make your pan heat with little veg. oil in medium flame.

Sauté the Aromatics:
Now you can saute the minced garlic and ginger for around 1-2 minutes until it smells good without burning it.

Cook the Mushrooms:
Stir fry the king oyster mushrooms slices for about 5-7mins to soften and fry untill to brown.

Now Add the Sauces:
Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sugar in a small bowl. Then pour the mushrooms while stirring them so that they are evenly coated. Also you can add a little water and let the mushrooms simmer for 5 minutes.

Garnish and serve:
You can add some chopped scallions and cook for another minute and it will be ready to a serving and if you wish you can sprinkle some sesame seeds too.
