Strawberry Linden Blossom Compote With Vanilla Buttermilk Shortcake: One Of The Best And Delicious Cake Ever

The linden strawberry compote cake incorporates the softness of vanilla buttermilk shortcake with a scent of linden strawberry compote that smells really nice. It blends the traditional shortcake’s richness and buttery taste also the flowery linden blossom’s slight citrus notes and  fresh and sweet strawberry fruits.

Required Ingredients For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or ¾ cup milk mixed with ¼ cup sour cream, crème fraîche, or yogurt)
  • ½ cup neutral cooking oil (such as corn or vegetable)
  • 1 tablespoon sparkling sugar (optional)

For the Strawberry-Linden Blossom Compote:

  • 1 dry pint fresh Oregon strawberries, rinsed, hulled, and halved
  • ¼ cup fresh linden blossoms
  • Whipped cream (homemade is ideal)
  • ½ cup sugar

Step by Step process for making the linden strawberry compote cake

  1. Firstly begin with prepare the Cake:

  • First preheat the oven at 350°F (175°C). Put in the pan a 9″ x 5″ loaf greased with a strip of parchment paper. Add in the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cardamom into a large bowl. Combine well. Whisk well together until smooth, in another bowl leave alone buttermilk, oil, eggs and vanilla extract.
  • After making the perfect batter, pour the it into the prepared loaf pan. Also add the sparkling sugar on the top of it.
