Tim Walz Roasts JD Vance with Hilarious Couch Joke During First Campaign Speech

Tim Walz’s recent mocking of JD Vance has gone viral after he cracked a funny couch joke in his first speech as Kamala Harris’s running mate. The Minnesota Governor pulled no punches getting cheers and laughs from the crowd in Philadelphia Pennsylvania when he brought up the GOP vice-presidential nominee’s online criticism.

The Writer Who Came Up with the Joke | How it began?

JD Vance ended up as the target of many jokes when a fake post on X (Twitter) stated that his bestseller, Elegy contained a confession about having sex with a couch. The joke spread leading to a flood of memes and even a fact-check by The Associated Press, which they later took down.

Rick, who made the post that went viral, has a desk job and doesn’t work in politics. He leans left and saw JD Vance with some disrespect. Rick grew up like the tough childhood Vance talks about in “Hillbilly Elegy,” but his political views ended up very different from Vance’s. Rick didn’t mean to trick anyone but wanted to make fun of what he saw as something hard to describe about Vance, which he thought the name “couch-fucker” captured best.

The Origin of the Couch Joke

On July 15 right after Donald Trump named Senator JD Vance his running mate, an X (Twitter) user @rickrudescalves posted a joke. This joke spread. It claimed JD Vance wrote in his hit book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” about a weird sexual experience. Also the post said Vance described having sex with an inside-out latex glove stuck between two couch cushions. It said this story appeared on pages 179 to 181 of his book.

The Immediate Response

Even though the claim was outlandish, the joke caught on quickly online. The internet filled up with memes and comments, and many users laughed at how ridiculous the scenario was. But the joke also confused and intrigued people leading some to look up pages 179 through 181 of “Hillbilly Elegy.” Of course, those pages don’t mention anything like that, and there’s no proof that Vance has ever done anything to a couch except sit on it.

The Viral Spread and Mainstream Media Involvement

The quick spread of the couch joke has a connection to how social media works and how funny and eye-catching stuff tends to blow up online. Just a week after someone first posted it, Google Trends showed that for every seven people looking up “JD Vance,” one was searching for “JD Vance couch.” This big jump in searches proves how far the joke reached and how much it got people talking.

Walz’s Speech: A Masterclass in Political Roasting

At the Philadelphia rally, Walz seized the chance to use the popular joke. “I’m eager to debate the guy… if he’s willing to get up from the couch,” Walz joked getting the crowd on his side right away. His comment took aim at Vance’s alleged double standards and snobbery made worse by Vance’s Yale education and backing from Silicon Valley tycoons.

But Walz didn’t stop at that. He kept on slamming Vance for how he showed Middle America in Elegy saying he bad-mouthed the community he said he stood for. This straight-talking and funny style struck a chord with the audience making Walz’s talk a standout part of the event.

The Aftermath: Memes and Media Frenzy

The internet blew up with fresh memes after Walz spoke. One person joked, “I kind of feel sorry for JD Vance. Those attacks are impossible to soften.” Another called Walz “brutal” for his sharp wit. Even Vice President Kamala Harris tried not to laugh during Walz’s speech, which made the moment go viral.

A New Era of Political Humor

This event shows a change in how Democrats talk about politics. They’re moving on from the Obama-era motto of “when they go low, we go high” and now use a more playful style. Vice President Harris’s team isn’t afraid to poke fun at the situation. They even tweeted, “JD Vance does not couch his hatred for women.”

How Walz’s Roast Made Waves

Tim Walz’s couch joke did more than just get laughs; it was a clever move to point out Vance’s seeming snobbery and double standards. It also showed off a new cheekier way Democrats are talking about politics. This approach struck a chord with people and got everyone talking online.
